On Horeb is a photographic composite on paper from the Relic Series by Yves Wilson. A series about the history of black America during the Industrial Age, objects as a totem, and photography and its role in value perception.
These prints are large scale starting at 36”x48” and are printed on brown archival paper. The images in the Relic series consist of objects that connect the artists family migration from the southern states of America to northern cities that were employing large numbers of black workers during the wartime effort. These objects combined with backgrounds from the artist’s archive of planes and objects give the now abstracted objects a new role as a memory holder, visual references to pasts not kept in history books.
This piece is an edition and only five of these pieces in this size will ever made and sold, this is number three of five.
